I can relate to what Bill is talking about here. I’m Scottish and most men here would identify with what he’s saying too. What Bill is describing is how I see so many Americans here on RUclips, commenting how they get “literal chills” when a movie trailer drops, or how they commented that they were in floods of tears because of the most benign video. They’re not joking. They’re genuinely like “Star Wars The Last Jedi changed my life. Literal chills. Stunning and brave. Brave and stunning.” It’s hilarious and pathetic with how tone deaf it all is. That’s what happens when your entire life is spent wrapped safely in cotton wool. Btw I’m sure there are Scottish people just as lame as this, and I’m sure there are humble, reasonable Americans who just get on with life offline. The thing is, it’s only the embarrassing ones we all hear about so they paint the rest of you in a bad light. The timeline of when he slammed his Dewer's followed by the prying questions, then the apologetic overfriendliness, and finally his freakout in reaction to Bill's response all point to the alcohol mixing with some kind of benzo in this guy's bloodstream. I would bet that ole boy was at least semi blacked out during his conversation with the flight attendants and then completely gone during his final diatribe. His adrenaline probably matched Bill's and once it was gone he just knocked out. It all fits perfectly within the ~20min window that it would've taken for the alcohol to hit his system and mix with whatever else he was on. The lesson? Don't mix drugs, kids.
